Sea-trout fishing at its best
Loch Hope is a six-mile long stretch of fresh water, 15 feet or so above sea-level,
around two miles inland from Sutherland's north coast. It is famous for its sea-trout.
The season runs from June to September, and the fishing is all done from boats, by
dapping or with a wet fly. There are 11 boats in all, but with several of these pre-booked
for the whole season, it's advisable to book ahead, especially during July or August.
This site contains up-to-date information on what fishing is available, how to book
a boat, and where to stay.
There’s also quite a lot of background reading, including a News blog, catch history,
an annotated fishing map, and a photo gallery.
